The Co-chairs of the planning committees of the 18th ICASA converged in Harare, Zimbabwe to finalize the sessions and speakers for the conference.
Partners of the conference including the UNFPA, UNAIDS, WHO, OXFAM, Gates Foundation among others joined the meeting to provide technical support pledge commitment for the conference.
Opening the co-chairs meeting, the Minister of Health and Child Care of the Republic of Zimbabwe Dr Parirenyatwa entreated participants to propose sessions that will trigger dialogue about the next phase in the HIV and AIDS response. He pledged Zimbabwe’s commitment to hosting the best ICASA yet. “ The government and people of Zimbabwe are ready to welcome Africa and the rest of the world this beautiful country. Zimbabwe has some successful stories to share and lessons to learn from all the participants. Zimbabwe is safe for all participants. You are all welcome”- Dr Parirenyatwa
Dr Ihab Ahmed, President of ICASA 2015 chronicled the successes collectively achieved over years. He encouraged the co-chairs and other participants to include sessions that will celebrate the successes achieved.
Participants of the meeting had the privilege to walk through the conference venue – the Rainbow Towers Conference Centre, with an auditorium that sits over 5000 delegates.
The Minister of Health could not hide his joy with the work done after the two-day meeting and expressed appreciation to the participants for setting the pace for an exciting 18th ICASA.
