Paul Nary is Senior HIV/AIDS Prevention Specialist at UNICEF’s Eastern and Southern African Regional Office (ESARO) in Nairobi, Kenya. He began his current work, providing technical and programmatic support to the 22 countries of the ESARO Region, in September 2015. Prior to that, Paul served for over 8 years as Programme Specialist for the UNICEF Regional Office for Central and Eastern Europe/Commonwealth of Independent States (CEE/CIS,) in Geneva, Switzerland, where he supported HIV/AIDS, adolescent development and participation programming in 22 UNICEF country offices and among UNICEF partners throughout the CEE/CIS Region.
Prior to his work with UNICEF, Paul worked as Acting Associate Director and Senior Technical Officer with Family Health International (FHI) USA, where he managed and supported strategic behavioral communication for HIV/AIDS programmes in Africa, Europe & Eurasia, Latin America/Caribbean and the Near East. Before working at FHI, Paul served as Programme Officer with the Johns Hopkins University/Center for Communication Programmes (JHU/CCP,) where he provided technical and mangagement support to Sexual and Reproductive Health and HIV/AIDS Prevention programmes in Eastern Europe. Paul has also worked in Public Relations and the Film Industry. He holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Public Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, United Kingdom and a B.A. in Political Science from Hunter College of the City University of New York.
